Recipe Thursday #11 - Chocolate Chip Cookies

As promised, here is my recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies. It started with the Nestle Tollhouse one, then morphed to fit our preferences. I don't care for crunchy cookies and these are just the perfect texture. They also make good dunkers! I made these last week and they were quickly scarfed down. I think they just happened to be my best batch yet.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups chocolate chips (milk or semisweet)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 365 degrees
  2. Combine flours, baking soda, and salt in small bowl
  3. Cream butter and shortening in large mixing bowl to combine
  4. Add sugars and vanilla and beat until creamy
  5. Add eggs, beating one at time into mixture
  6. Slowly beat in flour mixture
  7. Stir in chocolate chips
  8. Drop by spoonful (I use a cookie scoop) onto parchment paper lined cookie sheets
  9. Bake for 9 minutes (or just until the edges are brown)
  10. Cool on wire racks and store in airtight containers
