I started my 2011 Victory Garden planning back in January. Dear Hubster is moving my little picket fence and archway so I can have more room to work this year. Yay! So I went shopping and bought all my seeds and seedlings and some new plant markers and I am all set to go! This year, I'm planting:
- Beefsteak Tomatoes
- Patio Tomatoes
- Green Bell Peppers
- Red Bell Peppers
- Jalapeno Peppers
- Serrano Peppers
- Strawberries
- White Onions
- Green Onions
- Oregano
- Cilantro
- Artichokes (we're trying this one out for fun)
- Sunflowers
This is all in addition to the continuously growing Raspberry bush, Apricot tree, and Fuji/Granny Smith/Jonagold/Gala Apple tree.
Back in October, I added some new bulbs to my Spring collection - Dahlias & Irises. It's so much fun to see them all peeking up from the thawed earth. My Daffodils are blooming and the Alliums and Tulips are almost there. And my beautiful roses have some awesome new growth on them.
First Daffodil of 2011
I cannot wait to take a million photos of my gardens this year. But I want to see what you are growing in your own Victory Garden. So, I'm having a little photo contest. From April 1 to July 1, you can submit photos of your own garden to me at my(dot)domestic(dot)adventures{at}gmail(dot)com. I will post the top 10 photos in July and let you, my fabulous readers, pick your favorites. The winner will receive an awesome prize (to be announced later). Pretty simple, right? Can't wait to see the fruits of your labor!
Happy Gardening & Happy Spring to you all!
